Stephen Hillenburg nous a quitté à l’âge de 57 ans, et les réseaux sociaux ont rendu hommage au père de Bob l’Éponge carrée avec de magnifiques illustrations.
Dessinateur, scénariste, réalisateur… Stephen Hillenburg avait plus d’une corde à son arc. Alors que Stan Lee nous a récemment quitté, le mois de novembre 2018 continue d’être mortel pour les grands artistes américains, en emportant cette fois avec lui le créateur de Bob L’Éponge. Le personnage emblématique, dont les aventures avec ses amis Patrick l’Étoile ou encore Sandy l’Écureuil étaient diffusées sur Nickelodeon, est désormais orphelin. L’artiste, qui a succombé des suites d’une maladie neurodégénérative, aura su nous passionner sur le sort des habitants fictifs de Bikini Bottom, résidants joyeux du fond des mers. Ce passionné des océans avait d’ailleurs débuté sa carrière professionnelle en tant que professeur de biologie marine dans les années 80. Un artiste incontournable, aussi drôle qu’écolo, qui fera sans nul doute prochainement l’objet d’une rétrospective.
